Katy Perry on Fame, Friendship, and her Future!

On the day of the Oscars, Los Angeles is positively lousy with stars. And the Chateau Marmont—a storied West Hollywood hotel that’s sheltered everyone from Greta Garbo to Mary-Kate Olsen—is basically the epicenter of the outbreak. But even at the kind of establishment where one all but expects to encounter Zac Efron (for example) at the valet stand, Katy Perry still has the power to turn heads.
Of course, going incognito isn’t exactly an option when your hair is the color of cobalt. But Katy, who’s had one song or another near the top of the charts for the better part of the past two years, does her best to blend in, tucking her bright blue locks under a headband and hiding her similarly toned eyes behind a pair of dark sunglasses. (The rest of her outfit is probably best described as “haute workout”—aside from a pop of pink lipstick, she looks as though she may have come straight from the gym.)
As all the barely con- cealed double-takes attest, Katy is already about as famous as a girl can get. But this summer, the newly single 27-year-old is going to become even more ubiquitous, thanks to the big-screen release of Katy Perry: Part of Me, a documentary that showcases the incredible performances—and behind-the-scenes drama—of her California Dreams tour. “One of my main reasons for doing this is that people think of me as though I’m Dorothy in the ruby slippers,” she says, implicitly likening her career to the plot of The Wizard of Oz. “I want them to see everything else that’s involved. Yes, I am her, but at the end of it all, I’m also the guy behind the curtain.” Indeed: While Katy, like Dorothy, was once a sweet, sheltered girl with a gorgeous singing voice, it didn’t take a tornado to drag her to the big city—she moved to L.A. at seventeen and cycled through no fewer than four record labels before breaking big with One of the Boys in 2008. “My life is crazy now,” she admits. “When you get to this level, there’s a lot that’s not real, but I really haven’t changed.” Read on to find out what else she has to say about fame, friendship, and her future.

Katy Perry: ‘Fame Is Disgusting’

Pop star Katy Perry despises the fame her chart success has brought her, insisting it’s a “disgusting by-product” of what she does.
The Firework hitmaker has endured a tough few months following the breakdown of her 14-month marriage to comedian Russell Brand in December and she admits she’s sick of critics commenting on her personal life.
She tells Teen Vogue magazine, “I’m tired of being famous already! But I’m not tired of creating. Fame is, I think, just a disgusting by-product of what I do.
It’s quite a delicate creature – it’s a wild animal of sorts. It can love you, and then it can attack you… But really, I stopped focusing on what other people think a while ago. If you try to be everything to everyone, you’ll only end up completely confused.
Perry admits she wants to continue to be “as approachable and relatable as possible”, but she can’t understand why some devotees break down in tears when they meet her.
She says,
When I meet fans and they’re crying, I’ll say, ‘Calm down, there’s nothing to cry about. I’m not going to bite you or attack you or grant you three wishes. Let’s just hang out and have a good time.

Katy Perry to Get $6.5 Million Marital Home in Russell Brand Split
The quitclaim deed filed by Brand in Los Angeles uncovers that the ‘Rock of Ages’ actor gives the ‘Part of Me’ singer all rights to the mansion they bought together when they were married.
Katy Perry will get to keep the house she shared with estranged husband Russell Brand during their marriage as part of their divorce agreement. A quitclaim deed filed by Brand in Los Angeles has been obtained by E!, and it uncovered that the “Arthur” actor has surrendered all rights to their $6.5-million Hollywood Hills mansion.
The exes bought the 3-acre Mediterranean-style property in June 2011. It has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, and boasts a swimming pool, a pub, a huge home theater, a study and a guest house. Per the deed, the 36-year-old comedian gave his portion of the house’s ownership to the 27-year-old singer for “no monetary consideration.”
Perry and Brand got married in October 2010. After 14 months of marriage, Brand filed for divorce in December 2011. While the two reportedly did not sign a prenuptial agreement, the “Rock of Ages” star was said refusing to take money from the “Part of Me” singer.
In February 2012, the pair declared that they “have entered into a comprehensive written settlement of all issues, including, without limitation, with respect to the property to be confirmed or assigned to each party.” Shortly thereafter, a Los Angeles judge finalized their divorceby signing off the judgment. The twosome will be legally single again in July.

Katy Perry 3-D concert movie to be released in July
(Reuters) – The makers of Justin Bieber’s top-grossing concert film have moved on to another global pop star — Katy Perry.
A 3-D documentary concert feature film billed as an on-and- off stage close up look at Perry and her 2011 California Dreams Tour began production more than year ago, Paramount Pictures said in a statement on Wednesday.
The movie, called “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” is named after her new single “Part of Me,” which was released in February and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
The film, which will be released in cinemas in the United States on July 5, is being produced by Perry and directed by Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth.
Perry, 27, said in the statement she was excited to:
“reveal the highs and lows and nuts of bolts of this extraordinary ride. I promise you, after seeing this film, you will truly know me.”
Paramount and Perry, whose last album “Teenage Dream,” produced such hits as “Firework”, “California Gurls” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F),” teamed up for what is being promoted as the first big screen look at Perry’s life and 124 performances on her tour.
Paramount and Lipsitz and Cutforth co-produced and distributed Bieber’s concert film, “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,” which grossed nearly $100 million worldwide on a budget of $13 million.
A trailer for Perry’s movie promised details on her religious upbringing, her struggles and pressures becoming a pop star, her marriage breakup with actor Russell Brand, as well as tour footage, including her telling the audience,
“Thank you so much for believing in my weirdness.”

Katy Perry, Selena Gomez & More Get Leggy On The Red Carpet At Nickelodeon’s 25th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards

Mega-stars including Katy Perry, Tim Tebow, Taylor Lautner, Big Time Rush, Selena Gomez, Kristen Stewart, LMFAO and Justin Bieber reigned as this year’s favorites, winning top honors at Nickelodeon’s 25th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards live telecast, Saturday, March 31, 8-9:30 p.m. (ET/tape delayed for West Coast).

Hosted by international superstar, and 10-time KCA winner Will Smith, the awards were broadcast from the Galen Center at USC in Los Angeles where kids’ top choices in television, movies, music and sports were revealed through a flying blimp, silver robot and sword swallower. Smith made an aerial entrance onto the venue by parachuting down from the official KCA blimp, a 246-foot orange airship situated above the arena. After rappelling to the stage and deactivating a booby trap set by a mysterious Creepy Voice determined to stop the show, Smith kicked off the silver anniversary celebration with a performance of “Can U Handle This” and balloons filled with confetti and slime.
First Lady Michelle Obama made her first-ever appearance at Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, presenting Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Taylor Swift with this year’s The Big Help Award in recognition of her extensive philanthropic endeavors, including her work with tornado and flood survivors in the United States. The Big Help Award recognizes individuals who take actions to better the world and whose significant impact on their community has inspired kids to do the same.

Katy Perry Stars for New Adidas Ad
“I can’t run from where I came from, nobody can,” begins Katy Perry’s bio on Adidas.com. But the bubbly singer can keep up with the world’s athletic elite, it seems. She’s enjoyed a fruitful affiliation with the sports empire since 2011, starring in a TV spot and appearing in a colorful array of their girlier selections ever since. For her latest ambassador duties, she joins Lionel Messi, David Beckham and Derrick Rose for the brand’s new ClimaCool Seduction campaign, in which she serves as the exclusive female star. The accompanying 60-second TV ad debuted yesterday to the remixed sounds of Perry’s song “Part of Me.” It features athletic cameos from London, Moscow, and San Francisco, while Perry herself runs along a scenic setting in Los Angeles, decked out in pink and purple Adidas running gear.
Her jaunty ensemble manages to complement her Windex blue hairdo, which seems in need of a touch-up (note the roots). On her miracle mile, she runs into her friend, designer Jeremy Scott, who has a longstanding collaboration with Adidas. As for Beckham, no words need be spoken. Just observe.

Katy Perry Gets Medieval On Kids’ Choice Awards

When Katy Perry debuted “Part of Me” at the Grammys last month, music fans couldn’t help but focus on the new song’s vicious lyrics obviously pointed at a no-good ex (was it ex-husband Russell Brand? Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy?). But at Saturday’s (March 31) Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, Perry’s young fans were only focused on the song’s pulsing beat and catchy chorus. Even when Katy is getting serious, there’s always fun to be had.
Case in point, her entrance: Perry descended onto the stage by flying over the crowd from the ceiling, brandishing a sword. She was joined onstage by dancers in medieval garb, which included puffy shirts and dresses covered in armor. When the bridge kicked in, Perry lifted a gigantic shield in front of her with a glowing heart in the center.
While the medieval theme and dancing could have turned dramatic, especially when a dancer had his head and arms locked in a torture device, Perry got her hands on a pie and smashed it in his face.
Following the performance, host Will Smith presented Perry with the Favorite Voice From an Animated Movie award for her work as Smurfette in “The Smurfs.”
“Thank you so very much!” Katy told the crowd. “Listen: The only reason why I’m still here today — and remember this — is because I’ve never grown up! Thank you so much for this. I love you, and I can’t wait to do ‘Smurfs 2.’ ”
This wasn’t Katy’s first time at the Kids’ Choice Awards: Back in 2010, she was the unlucky target of a green slime shower. “I can’t see anything,” she exclaimed after emerging from a puddle of the slimy goo. “Why does it taste like boogers?”
Perry recently debuted the combat-heavy clip for “Part of Me” on MTV. In the video, she gets down and dirty with Marines as she works out her anger against the aforementioned no-good ex. So why did Perry choose a military theme?
“It’s an affirmation of strength, so I wanted to go the strongest route I ever could,” she said of the song. “Literally, I was like, ‘I’m gonna join the service. I’m gonna join the Marines.’ We used only Marines. … For three days, I was a wannabe Marine, which was so difficult.”

Katy Perry To Perform In India For The First Time

Katy Perry is preparing to stage her first performance in India – two years after marrying Russell Brand in the country.
In October 2010, the pop star exchanged vows with Brand in a lavish Hindu ceremony in Rajasthan, the same location where the Brit proposed, but the couple has since filed for divorce.
Now, Perry is returning to India for a different type of celebration – she’s agreed to sing at the opening ceremony of cricket’s Indian Premier League in Chennai on April 3rd.
And the California Gurls hitmaker admits she’s thrilled to finally be able to perform for her Indian fans.
She tells DesiHits!,
I know that everyone in India has waited for a very long time for me to come and perform professionally. I’ve enjoyed India on my own time personally, and now it’s time to give back to the fans.
I’m really excited to be a part of something really big in India and to soak up all the culture and beauty that is India, and to learn about the country and the people, and just have an incredible experience.
I think Bollywood is amazing and fun and over-the-top, and I love to be involved with a lot of things that are over-the-top, so I think it’s a good match. I really like their spirit, and charm and sense of humor, and I’m hoping that I can bring some Western love to Bollywood and then take home some Bollywood to the Western world.
